Frequently Asked Questions

  • A competitor’s age is determined as at 1 January in the year of participation.

    For Group sections, the age category is determined by the oldest dancer as at 1 January. Each group may include a maximum of two (2) performers who are one (1) year older than the entered age category. No performers more than one year older are permitted.

    Example:
    A 10 & Under group may include up to two dancers aged 11, however no dancers aged 12 or above are permitted.

  • No. The age of each individual performer must be determined as at January 1. Average age is not used for group sections.

  • No. Each routine may only be performed once, unless it qualifies for entry into the Winner of Winners section.

  • Yes. Competitors may enter the closest available higher age division, but may not compete in a lower age group.

  • No. All music must be uploaded prior to the event via Starbound Music Uploads. CDs and USBs will not be accepted.

  • No. Photography and videography by audience members is not permitted. A professional photographer and videographer, arranged by Starbound, will be on site. Orders can be placed through their respective websites.

  • To qualify, competitors must:

    • Compete in at least two other sections (any genre) prior to Championships

    • Perform a different routine in the Championship section

    • Not repeat any previously performed routine

  • Basic dance attire only.
    No costumes, sparkles, or studio logos are permitted.

  • Prizes are announced after each section.
    Special Awards are announced at the end of the day.

  • StarBound arranges professional photography and videography at each event. These businesses are independent from StarBound. Purchase links and QR codes are available at each event and in the program. Personal filming is not permitted.
